After his death, his immediate family decided to exit the restaurant business, bringing about a change of owner. The period since the new owner took over seems to have been a small renaissance for Bevanda. A luxurious boutique hotel was added upon the foundations of this epic restaurant, turning it into a wholesome gourmet retreat and a destination of its own. The hotel's modern structure leans onto the restaurant and its design character manifests in the prevalent minimalist style and calming subtlety of décor accentuated by eye-catching central pieces. Luxurious and ultra-comfortable, Bevanda's ten rooms pay a tribute to Opatija's past by bearing the names of famous visitors, like James Joyce or Albert Einstein.
The restaurant remains the highlight. Headed by Andrej Barbieri, renowned Croatian chef and a local, its menu translates the Kvarner region into spectacular fish and seafood creations. Bevanda sports one of the richest regional wine lists with over 650 labels, and an impressive drinks list with over 200 distillate labels. On a lush backdrop of Rijeka’s skyline across the bay of Kvarner, this is the place to turn your indulgence over to the experts and just enjoy exquisite food and wine experiences.
Member of the Relais-Chateaux collection, Bevanda’s exclusive nature, dedicated finesse and world-class service are once again reinventing the image of Opatija, marking this sleepy Austro-Hungarian style resort as a modern, hip destination for well versed travellers.
Bevanda is usually one of the favorite spots when traveling from Istria to the Dalmatian coast.
